Media bashing?

The Indian media is crying itself hoarse over the Indian-bashing incidents in Australia.
I put the question to a few Indian immigrants [now Australian citizens] and I got a very different story altogether.
First of all, they pointed out that there was nothing 'racist' about Aussie society.
Second, they said that there were gangs of anti-social and rowdy thugs in some of the cities who have begun targeting easy prey, and these are often immigrants - Chinese, Taiwanese, Paki, Indian. they pointed out that they had lived in Oz for the better part of four decades, and they received no such threats.
Third, they said that the incidents were unfortunate, but Indians do have a high degree of 'sentimentality' that often clouds their objective vision.
Yes, crimes occur evrywhere, like the way Australian Graham Staines and his two small boys were immolated by a fanatical, uncouth Indian thug in the name of preserving 'religion'. One doesn't recall a frenzied media in Australia, but one does recall strident and shrill voices condoning this grisly crime being broacast over the Indian media!
Comments anyone, to these comments by Indian born Aussies?

You said it, fred
The media sees red, but they are the ones to wave the red rag in front of the bull in the china shop.

I think the Indian media by and large follow a "herd mentality". The media pick and chooses its target and then goes after it with all its might. What is perhaps missing is "balanced reporting". Like in the present case there have been reports of cases which have not been caused due to racial reasons but has media been able to make that voice heard?

Indian society including the media must do a bit of introspection n looking back before pointing fingures at others. Only this can help us discover how racist we have been since ages n still are in our day to day practises.......................
Walk around the streets of any part of the country n u can witness in situ below-the-belt comments made against not only foreigners but even those indians belonging to other parts of the nation. Yet no one questions it? Biharis are subject to violence in Maharashtra. People of north India are ridiculed for their accent in south India and vice versa. yet nowhere it is discussed?
People of low castes are not allowed to step their feet inside a temple. Do media ever take these issues n make an effort to put an end to these prevelant social evils?
it's high time we got back to the old indian adage which says the process of changing world begins only when one makes an attempt to change oneself first..............
