Looking Back 2000-2009

Social Service
I am happy to have made a small contribution towards HIV and AIDS awareness, and the lessening of prejudice against HIV positive people in the past decade.

Our regular International AIDS Candlelight Memorial observances involved civil society in Patna. Of course, such functions would not be posssible without the wholehearted support from various quarters.

One family that has continuously supported the Memorial is Rudolph Mawer and his wife Robina and sons and daughters: Ryan, Ralph, Ramona, and Rachel.
Rudy is an accomplished musician and the children have competent singing voices.
Apart from being an accomplished writer - he has won several awards from the Anglo Indian Association for contributions to their Magazine - he is also the secretary of the patna Branch of the All India Anglo-Indian Association.

It was satisfying to watch Rudy and his family perform at the Ravi Bharati Christmas carol evening in December 2009.

This is a shining example of community service: giving unselfishly of one's talents.

I remember being at two of those candlelight evenings. very well organised and profound. AASRA and Frank Krishner actually pioneered human advocacy for HIV positive people.
