Hunks

On my way to New Jalpaiguri Station
on a rick
I bounced
and these two
caught my eye
so I went for
the shot
and got 'em...
Street stalls in Siliguri are abundant.
The thing is - you must know how to haggle like a good old Shylock!

Grit and guts

Bihar, they say, is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Well, if you watch the 24 hour news channels all you've got to watch is the wrong news.

Bihar has never failed to fascinate me by the sheer grit and guts of its people.

Bihar is like its proletarian foodstuff - the litti.

Plain, no-nonsense, packed with punch, and down-to-earth.

Of course, you can dress it up in ghee and serve it with fine chicken curry and on a bed of pudina sauce...

but for all that .. it's still plain solid and sensible... and rustic

Sikkim Surprise

Hello again!
Visited the Land of the Khangchendzonga
[the K mountain isn't featured here]
Surprise for me
the land of Sha-faley and Beef momos
actually has sprouted a number
of vegetarian joints

The Blue Sheep

once famous for meat sizzlers
is now a veggie joint with rather unimpressive food
However, Masala is a veg joint that serves a lot of very interesting sikkimese and tibetan style VEGGIE adaptations.
The best adaptation of all is their garage style decor!

Cards no more

The other day
I happened
to walk into a bookstore

that used to stock
very interesting greeting cards.

The Store - Guy tells me... we don't stock cards no more

My eyebrtows hit my hairline in a big ???mark

SMS... he sighed... people use the SMS nowadays

the mobile killed the card store ....

and so has the snazzy 'free' e-greeting cards

Nothing compares to the feel of a REAL birthday card

or Easter Card in your hands

the rest still seems

rather ... CHEAP?
